Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East works with many leading companies. A corporate partnership with Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East can help you to achieve your local corporate social responsibilties, is great for teambuilding and helps to generate positive PR for your organisation.

Compuware When Gaynor Steer, Facilities Manager at Compuware Ltd on the Bath Road, Slough heard that Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East (ACSABE) needed funds to provide a Christmas Day lunch for local isolated older people, she quickly leapt into action Within a few days she had organised a Christmas raffle with prizes donated by suppliers - these included a flat screen TV and a Fortnum & Mason hamper. Tickets sold quickly and soon Gaynor was able to present a cheque for £547 to Age Concern. Gaynor said: "When I heard that some of the Age Concern staff had volunteered to put on a Christmas lunch for some older people who would otherwise spend Christmas Day totally on their own, I felt I had to do something. Age Concern does a fantastic job for the older people of Slough and the surrounding areas, and we are proud to support their work".

Kinnarps The furniture and re-use centre project is also being supported by Kinnarps, one of Europe's largest workplace furniture providers. Kinnarps, which is headquartered in Slough and has recently opened a local showroom and business centre, sponsors the furniture and re-use centre's collection and delivery van and also sponsored the grand opening of the Centre.

Marc Bird, Head of Marketing for Kinnarps UK said: "We are very excited to be working with ACSABE and SEGRO on this service, particularly because it reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility and we will be encouraging our clients to donate their old office furniture to the Centre".

O2 have been working with Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East on a mobile phone accessibility project. Many older people do not have a mobile phone, and are perhaps 'put off' by the perceived complexity of using a mobile, and the 'jargon' used by some salespeople! However, a mobile can bring great benefits to older people including peace of mind not only for themselves, but for their family too, and easy access to friends, for example.

Emma Young, Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Manager at O2 said: "It has been great working with the team at Age Concern, who helped us facilitate workshops where groups of older people were given a basic introduction to the benefits of using a mobile phone. It is also an opportunity to ask questions and have practical demonstrations. The accompanying booklet, 'Everything you need to know about mobile phones' produced in conjunction with Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East, is a simple, easy-to-read guide for people interested in getting a mobile phone."

Mars in the Community awarded a £10,000 grant to Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East to ensure that their Health Activist could continue her vital work helping isolated, housebound older people in Slough and Berkshire East. She will also run exercise classes for older people in local community centers, and will promote healthy living advice.

Kay Nicholls, from Mars said of the partnership: "Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East demonstrated to us that the Health Activist's work can really transform the lives of a significant group of older people in our community. Her health promotion activity met the objectives of our 'healthy active lifestyles' funding programme".

Mars associates also decided to support Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East with their corporate Christmas card scheme and their associate business briefings, generating a much appreciated £10,000.
