UK Online Centres
Working in partnership with UK online centres, Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East provides a four to six week ‘Myguide’ online basics course at our centrally located facility, to help older people learn how to use computers and access the internet safely in a relaxed and controlled environment.
Following the completion of one of our courses, feedback has been very positive:
- Clients have accessed the internet safely and carried out some shopping. They were able to compare prices and get the best deals on everything from gas and electricity to fridges, washing machines and insurance
- Clients have also told us how the internet is an instant source of news and information
- They can now send and receive emails to stay in touch with families and friends
- Clients have accessed social networking sites to track down friends and families; which has also proved useful for building family trees
- Clients used the internet to look for work
